TRUTH ALERT

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Newark, OH – Thad Claggett’s opponent and the campaign committee backing him have resorted to intentional distortion to try and win an election.  “Whether Fraizer is the author of these distortions or he is too weak to stop the committee paying for them, he is demonstrating he is completely controlled by the Columbus political establishment. Fraizer’s sham appointment without the input of our local Republican party is exactly why I’m running – Licking County needs an independent conservative voice is Columbus.” Claggett said this in response to recent radio, TV and “push poll” ads airing on behalf of Fraizer’s campaign.

Here are the facts:

On Safety

  • Thad Claggett’s company has an outstanding safety record with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compenation and has received numerous safety awards.

  • No employee of Thad Claggett’s company has ever lost any wages due to a workplace injury – EVER!

On Public Works

  • A Licking County judge ruled Thad Claggett’s company was wrongly terminated from a local school renovation project after successfully completing 86% of the work.

  • The court ordered Thad Claggett’s company paid $3.8 million dollars but Claggett never collected the money from the cash-strapped school.

Claggett said, “Our Republic is put at risk when candidates rely on deceit and distortion to promote their election.  But I am committed to brush off these baseless insults and offer Licking County a conservative state representative worthy of their support.  Fraizer has a liberal voting record on city council which includes a personal pay raise, tax increases, special rights for LGBTQ and more.  Because of his liberal tendencies, he and his handlers have chosen to deceitfully attack my successful 30 year record of business success.”

Claggett has not previously run for public office. He is a Civil Engineer and President of Claggett & Sons Inc., a 66-year-old commercial general contracting company in Newark.  He is president of the Licking County Library Board, past Licking County Chamber of Commerce Board member, past National Federation of Independent Business Ohio area action council leader, board member and past chairman of the Central Ohio Associated Builders and Contractors and past member of a blue ribbon community planning committee, among others.             Thad Claggett is a founding member of his church in Pataskala and a twenty-year Deacon Chairman.  He remains active in the congregation to this day.  As a conservative Republican, he believes strongly in public service, limited government, low taxes, individual freedoms and responsibilities.  His life choices demonstrate his conservative republican values in everything he does as a husband, father, business leader and community member.

Thad Claggett Announces

“Conservatives Can’t Trust Mark Fraizer…
Here’s why, part 3, Immigration”

Newark Twp., OH – Immigration affects Licking County and central Ohio. President Trump has made significant changes to federal policies with the goal of protecting the American people, our economy and ending the exploitation of non-citizens. Thad Claggett supports President Trump’s immigration changes.

Thad Claggett strongly supports a wall and other necessary infrastructure at our porous southern border.

Claggett supports legislation to deny state money to public and private entities that are not in compliance with immigration law. His opponent in the race for the Republican nomination for the 71st House District, Mark Fraizer, responded that he was “neutral” on the issue.

“Illegal immigrants smuggled into the United States are too often used as mules for drug traffickers, exploited as slave labor and trafficked as sex slaves,” Claggett said. “Elected Representatives in Ohio have a responsibility to stand up for Ohio citizens and work to limit illegal immigration.”

Fraizer was also asked “Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?”

His response? “Legal Immigration from all nations with appropriate protections.”

Thad Claggett wants reasonable levels of immigration that coincide with the needs of businesses and do not negatively impact jobs and wages for American citizens. He believes immigration should be limited to those who want to contribute and support the American way of life.

“Foreign nationals who are immediately able to contribute to our vibrant economy and who share and appreciate our American values should be welcomed on an ‘as-needed’ basis,” Claggett stated.

Claggett encourages everyone to call Mark Fraizer at his office and demand that he support legislation to pull state money from sanctuary cities and other entities that encourage illegal immigration.
His number is (614) 466-1482.

Thad Claggett Announces

“Conservatives Can’t Trust Mark Fraizer … Here’s why, part 2”

Newark Twp., OH -- Thad Claggett can be trusted to defend our 2nd Amendment. His actions are evidence of responsible gun ownership and good stewardship of this God-given right.

Thad has been an NRA member for many years; his father was a lifetime member. He has a shooting range on his property where gun owners have gone for concealed carry permit training and target practice. A concealed carry license holder, Thad takes his right to protect himself and others very seriously.

“Our 2nd Amendment is under attack. Here in Ohio the Democratic Party and a few Republicans are actively working to pass gun control legislation in our state,” Claggett exclaimed. “Licking County residents deserve a State Representative who shares their pro-freedom values and will represent them, not political power brokers or special interests.”

Claggett is opposed to both Senate Bill 221 (SB 221) and House Bill 354 (HB 354).

“The Senate bill is ‘Red Flag’ legislation disguised as a ‘pink slip’,” Claggett said.

“Red Flag laws allow your firearms to be confiscated with no trial, no due process, no criminal charges,” he explained. “The ‘pink slip’ law would give Ohio Probate Judges permission to confiscate you instead of your weapons. A judge would have the authority lock you up for up to 72 hours while someone assesses your mental health. This violates our rights as free citizens.”

Claggett is also opposed to the House version of gun control, House Bill 354.

“I agree with Buckeye Firearms and Ohio Gun Owners – House Bill 354, a gunowner database expansion bill and worse – is a train wreck,” the candidate stated. “To quote BFA, the bill, ‘…may be the single worst piece of legislation we have seen in a very long time’.”

“Fraizer’s inexperience with gun issues is concerning at a time when our most basic rights are under assault. I will oppose all unconstitutional attempts to limit our right to keep and bear arms. Vote for me, Thad Claggett, on or before March 17th.”

Claggett encourages everyone to call Mark Fraizer at his office and demand that he promise to oppose HB 354 and SB 221.  His number is (614) 466-1482.

Thad Claggett Announces

“Conservatives Can’t Trust Mark Fraizer … Here’s why, part 1”

Newark Twp., OH -- Thad Claggett, longtime business leader and community patron, issued his first in a series of statements on why Licking County conservative Republicans cannot trust Mark Fraizer.  “In 2016, the then 28-year-old Mark Fraizer voted to establish special legal rights for people claiming to identify as LGBT.  Now he is poised to potentially do the same thing by voting for HB 369 in the Ohio House.  Fraizer must announce his opposition to HB 369 immediately.

When Fraizer supported this special rights legislation he unwittingly attracted a transgender group to rent a public community room in one of our Licking County branch libraries.  Why Licking County? Because they felt emboldened to teach their obscene “transgender how to” classes to young boys based on the legislation Fraizer supported on city council.

Claggett, who has served as a member and chairman of the Licking County Library Board for fourteen years, immediately stepped in and had the event canceled.  The event was so egregious, Speaker Larry Householder issued an open letter to the Library demanding they cancel the rental event -- which Claggett had already done days earlier.

“When you’re young and inexperienced like Fraizer, you are susceptible to being fooled into supporting things without fully understanding their impact.  In this case, Fraizer voted for something that invited unwanted activity to our community. It also invited baseless, nuisance lawsuits by disgruntled employees on our local businesses,” Claggett said.  “Now as an appointed state representative, he could make the same critical mistake, TWICE! We must stop him on March 17 at the Ohio Presidential Primary.”

Claggett encourages everyone to call Mark Fraizer at his office and demand that he promise to oppose HB 369.  His number is (614) 466-1482.
